MJ Gore, MEd, BCEA
MJ is the Executive Director and on the Board of NSEAI.
Â
MJ earned both her BS in Elementary Education and a  Master’s in Counselor Education from the University of Pittsburgh. She worked in elementary education as a counselor for 4 years. She was instrumental in establishing programs to address the needs of under privileged children with learning disabilities in the classroom, and was instrumental in compiling a resource guide for parents to the agencies that could provide support services.
She spent the majority of her professional career in the pharmaceutical corporate world where she was frequently called on to train clinicians. Among her customers, MJ was always known for her exceptional educational programs and for the amount of research based product knowledge she brought to them. MJ received multiple awards for her effectiveness in the field in educating patients and clinicians as well as for sales.
MJ returned to education but this time to the special education classroom. Â She worked as a learning support teacher in middle school and then with life skills in the high school. She creatively dealt with the limited resources and was successful in supporting students who found it difficult to thrive with the challenges before them. MJ sought out a way to advocate more effectively for her students through the National Special Education Advocacy Institute which provided her the information that allowed her to intervene in the process of Special Education and create real child focused change and progress.
She notes that NSEAI has provided her the means to take everything she learned in education and advocacy and share it with parents, related services personnel and education professionals. It is all about giving children real challenges with the right supports that can take them as far as possible toward independent adult living.
MJ is the recipient of the prestigious President’s Volunteer Service Award which is a civil award that was bestowed by President Obama on her for her thousands of hours of service to her community through NSEAI.
Mj actively tracks psycho-metrics and any need for curriculum changes at NSEAI. This sets NSEAI apart from any other program available, since NSEAI applies best practices to board certification nationally.
When not working with NSEAI or advocating MJ is Director of Discipleship for her church and a member of the steering committee for Vital Congregations.
